Energizing Snacks for When It’s Too Late for Coffee

Date

Who else loves coffee?

I prided myself in never drinking coffee all through undergrad and grad school.  Then I became what I like to think of as a real adult and everything changed.  I discovered the magic of coffee.  My taste buds grew to love the flavor of someone I used to dislike.  I know I’m not the only one where some days, I need an extra energy boost, but it is after my 3 PM coffee cut-off.  This is when I reach for these energizing snacks for when it’s too late for coffee.  They are all easy to make and require only a few ingredients!

First up: Oat balls

These are extrememly easy to make, low in calories, and only require a few ingredients.  They can also be adjusted to your preferences!  I don’t really have exact measurements, but all I do is mix about 1/4 cup of raw oats, a small scoop of nut butter, and a big scoop of plain greek yogurt.  Mix together and you can mold it into a ball or just eat by the spoonful.  I don’t add any sweetener, but you could add honey or syrup if you wanted!

Next up, berry ‘ice cream’

Berry ice cream

I recently starting keeping a bag of frozen berries in the freezer at all times.  Some times I mix them with my oatmeal, but most of the time I used them to make ‘ice cream’.  All I do is mix berries with water in the blender and let it do it’s thing!  Use less water for more scoopability and more water for a smoothie-like consistency.  Sometimes I add a scoop of plain greek yogurt, which adds more creaminess.  I really like this one as a pre-workout treat/energy boost!

Last up: Anything that hydrates you!

It is important not to discredit the role hydration plays in energy levels.  I am surprised to find how energizing just drinking a big glass of water can be!  You can also eat watermelon, cucumbers, or any other fruits/vegetables that have a high water content!

So if, like me, you sometimes crave a cup of coffee at 4 or 5 PM, but don’t want to be up all night, try out some of these energizing snacks for when it’s too late for coffee!

Let me know what works for you!
